REKUIEM: New Album To Feature Ex-FIREWIND Singer

February 13, 2008

REKUIEM (formerly REQUIEM),the cult NWOBHM band that was at the very start of the British metal movement alongside such names as DIAMOND HEAD and WITCHFINDER GENERAL, has issued the following update:

"At last pre-production work has now started on the next REKUIEM album to be entitled 'Raise The Dead'. The new album, which will feature Chitral 'Chity' Somapala (ex-FIREWIND) on lead vocals is anticipated to be released worldwide during late summer 2008. The band, who played the UK in November 2007, are also looking forward to more shows this summer in the UK and hopefully also Germany."

Commented guitarist Steve Slater: "Wow, after a tough time last year with various problems and member re-shuffles we did real well to get things in place ready to play the November shows, but it was well worth the effort and what a time we all had! We've had so much good feedback on the new lineup since then that we now simply just have to make this new record with Chity; everybody just loves this guy!"

In 1980, REQUIEM issued its first and last single, the self-financed "Angel of Sin" on Sacrificial Records. The single was backed by "Sacrificial Wanderer" and was issued without a picture sleeve. It is now incredibly rare and somewhat of a collector's item for NWOBHM fanatics.

REKUIEM's debut album, "Time Will Tell", was released in 2006 via Majestic Rock.
